Olympians Bring Spirit of Community Support to Youth Sports in San Diego
A Night with Olympians Pairing Party & Al Joyner Charity Golf Tournament

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, May 26, 2011 – SportOutlier Foundation will host a Night with Olympians Pairing Party Thursday, July 7, 2011 followed by the Al Joyner Charity Golf Tournament Friday, July 8, 2011.  Both events will be celebrated at Barona Resort & Casino. Proceeds from the event will directly benefit improved athletic opportunities for underserved youth in San Diego County.

Gold Medalist, Al Joyner and the SportsOutlier Foundation welcome the community on July 7th to enjoy live music, silent/live auction and dine with celebrities and Olympic athletes, such as: Willie Gault, Chris Mulkey, Willie Buchanon, Mike Day, Andre Reed, Lil Jordan, Tracy Murray, April Holmes and Chef Roc and the Joc. The fun will continue on July 8th with a shotgun-style golf tournament on the 5th best casino golf course and 11th best tour golf course in the country.

“Our Charity Golf Tournament is a wonderful opportunity for the local golfing community to enjoy a day on the beautiful greens at the Barona Creek Golf Club, while contributing their support for a worthy cause,” said, Al Joyner, Gold Medalist and Coach at the U.S. Olympian Training Center.”

SportOutlier Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that fundraises for, designs and integrates health and wellness education into amateur athletics to improve the opportunities for underserved youth to fight childhood obesity and compete in sports. The Al Joyner Charity Golf Tournament is a charity fundraiser to support the SportOutlier Foundation mission.

Al Joyner is a Gold Medalist from the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and the first American to have won a gold medal in the triple jump in 80 years! Al is a member of a legendary family. His sister Jackie Joyner Kersee is arguably the greatest all around athlete ever, winning six Olympic medals in the heptathlon and long jump. His brother-in-law Bobby Kersee, since 1984 has led many of our most celebrated Olympic champions to victory. And of course Al’s memorable relationship with the dynamic five time Olympic medalist Florence Griffith-Joyner “Flo-Jo”, who to this day holds the world, records in the 100 and 200 meters.
