COUNTYWIDE “HEALTHY COMMUNITREES” VOLUNTEER EFFORT
TO PLANT 1,000 TREES IN ONE DAY

On Saturday, October 23, 2010, more than 2,000 volunteers from across San Diego County will come together to plant 1,000 trees at dozens of public parks, schools and breezeways as part of the statewide “Healthy CommuniTrees” event in recognition of national “Make a Difference Day.”
The San Diego kickoff event starts at 8:00 a.m. in the park in front of Roosevelt Middle School located at 3366 Park Blvd. in Balboa Park. Once registered, volunteers are encouraged to explore an educational booth fair accompanied by a formal ceremony at 9:00 a.m. Program speakers include San Diego County Supervisor Ron Roberts, San Diego Unified School District Board President Richard Barrera and Chairman of the San Diego Regional Urban Forests Council Michael Palat. Volunteers will then be shuttled to planting sites at approximately 10:00 a.m. and return to Roosevelt Middle School by 12:30 p.m.
